The project

This design was part of a rendering course where I replicated an already completed render. The aim was to accurately recreate both the aesthetic and technical elements of the original, while also refining my skills in 3D rendering. The space I chose to replicate was a small apartment with a kitchen in a modern Japandi style, a perfect setting to practice with light and small spaces.

The process

To start, I carefully considered the layout of the apartment, focusing on how the living room and kitchen could flow together while maintaining distinct zones. The large windows were a key element, allowing ample natural light to flood the space and creating a sense of openness. I chose a light color palette with soft neutrals to enhance this feeling of brightness and spaciousness. For the furniture, I searched for the original designs but not everything was available so I had to model the furniture to match the original render.

The result

The final render beautifully captures the essence of Japandi style, creating a serene and functional living environment as the original render. The interplay of light from the large windows highlights the natural textures of the wood and fabrics, while the cohesive color palette ties the space together. This design not only exemplifies the beauty of combining Japanese and Scandinavian influences but also demonstrates how a small apartment can be transformed into a peaceful retreat that emphasizes both aesthetics and functionality. Through this project, I enhanced my understanding of the Japandi style and its principles, showcasing the potential of small living spaces.
