Puerto Morelos: Interior design
The project
This design was created for a private client who wanted to optimize their small apartment near Cancun, which includes a balcony with a stunning view of the sea. The main goal was to make the most of the limited interior space without sacrificing comfort or functionality, while also creating a seamless connection between the indoor area and the breathtaking outdoor views.
The process
To achieve this, I focused on designing custom furniture that not only met the client’s practical needs but also contributed to a sense of openness and lightness. Each piece of furniture was carefully crafted to suit the scale of the space, with clean lines and materials that reflected the coastal environment. I chose natural materials like light wood and neutral-toned textiles to create a relaxed atmosphere, while subtle touches of color were inspired by the marine landscape. Maximizing storage was another key element, so I integrated discreet solutions to keep the space uncluttered and functional.
The design
The result was a cozy, functional, and stylish space that seamlessly connects the interior with the balcony and the sea views. The custom furniture design allowed for efficient use of every corner without overwhelming the apartment, giving it an open, airy feel that stays connected to nature. The common areas, such as the living room and kitchen, flow naturally toward the balcony, which was transformed into an extension of the living space—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Overall, this project successfully met the client’s needs, creating a sanctuary that blends practicality, style, and a deep connection to its natural surroundings.
